Counter Terrorism - and VR

Few days of silence from my side. from your side dear readers it's silence since the beginning  - didn't get a single comment in the blog till now

As I promised  last time, I will write about Virtual Reality and the benefits it can bring not just for training surgeons but also in training front-line security forces, including the police and counter-terrorism units.

Virtual reality can be used to simulate different scenarios and  environments like an explosion in an airport, hostages in a big theater, hostages in a bus or an aircraft that was hijacked and any other scenario that can be imagined.
Creating a software that will simulate factors like crowds, human behaviour, fire, toxic gases and an unpredictable, unfolding situation, will enable security forces undergo rigorous training in carrying out a full-scale evacuation.
Previously, this type of  training has consisted of large-scale exercises on location, which have proved a drain on resources in terms of time and money, and have been unable to properly replicate complex, real-life scenarios.
A good software will be able to make counter-terrorism training be realistic down to the finest detail

Special forces will be gaining expertise in responding to terrorist attacks in crowded places, which ultimately will lead to more efficient evacuations and could help save lives.

Solidarity

Hello and good morning to all the readers.

First of all I would like to send my solidarity to the French people. My thoughts and prayers are with the French people. – In a future post I will write about how can VR help coping with terrorist hostage scenario.

In my last post I started to elaborate more about VR and Medicine. I will continue today.
Last time we talked first about Psychiatry and exposure therapy – a comment that I got talked about the huge potential existing I connecting VR medicine with VR porn – creating aa product that will help people with sexual dysfunction problems and fear of social interactions. I really liked the comment and  the idea. I will write a bit more about it I future post. If you have more ideas please comment. In the meantime enjoy this links : www.pornorealidadvirtual.net ; www.pornvrmovie.com

Next topic in VR and Medicine will be :

Surgical training

Training for surgeons usually involves gradual process of assisting more experienced doctors before taking over tasks and bigger portions of the surgery. Virtual reality could provide another means of practice, without any risk to real patients. It takes 4-6 years in most countries to become a skilled general surgeon and at least 2 years more to be expert in a specific kind of surgery.
This is a huge amount of time that can be shortened with good training tools like Virtual Reality.

Today there are Surgery simulators that even include haptic feedback for those doing the training. The simulators use CT scans from patients to create 3D models for practice, and it's been in use since 2002.

So this field is not new but with today advancement in technologies there is a big potential for better simulation and better training techniques that in the end will enable surgeons to master their work and skills and be able to perform more difficult tasks and faster.

….. to be continued there’s a lot more

Hello to all

Good Morning to everyone
We already have 14 views that's nice. hope some of you that come across the blog will leave a comment....

So as I promise  bit by bit I will move between the different "fields" of VR and will try to give some insight.
By the way writing in this blog is in part for me staying updated in the field. I haven't told you yet, but I would like to find a good idea where VR can be implicated and be useful for humanity ( a big word) - this is my real dream...

So as for Medicine most of the implications for VR till now are in the field of Psychiatry and as a training simulator for difficult and emergency situations.

Psychiatry

Exposure therapy

One technique of treating  patients with phobias is exposure therapy. In one instance, psychiatrists  are using VR to help patients deal with fears of things like flying and claustrophobia.
The VR experiences provide for a controlled environment. patients can face their fears and even practice coping strategies,  all while in a setting that's private, safe, and easily stopped or repeated, depending on the circumstances.
In the same manner psychiatrists treat PTSD - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder of soldiers returning from the battle, car accident survivors and other traumatic events.

Pain management

Doctors are hoping distraction therapy via virtual reality could help them get a handle on pain. A VR video game with a relaxing music may alleviate pain successfully in activities like wound care or physical therapy, by overwhelming the senses and pain pathways in the brain.

Virtual Reality and Porn

I felt that I cannot talk about VR without mentioning VR porn, as with other technologies, also in virtual reality, pornography is a very strong power driving the field ahead.
there's a lot of money around pornography and adult content.

Virtual reality films are edging ever nearer to the mainstream and, like many video technologies before, a major step on the journey could see them break through first in adult films.
Thanks to the  competitive nature of pornography, the industry has a reputation for pioneering new standards – be it VHS over Betamax or Blu-ray over HD-DVD.

I will deal with this subject also. Trying to give latest updates  about cameras, filming, best sites and for those who are interested - some links.

VR and Sport
right now the main uses to VR in the field of sports are :

1. As a simulator for training - Football practice is being revolutionized thanks to a new virtual reality technology.College and NFL coaches believe this system will be everywhere in a few years.

2. As a new and exciting way to watch sport. having the sensation beeing in the field among the players and seeing almost from their perspective.
Golf, soccer, football, car racig , tenis, athletics , baseball and you name it. All are going to be broadcast in VR i the near future.
the latest broadcast was in the NBA.

As the CNBS reported (end of October 2015)

"The NBA will make history Tuesday as the league will become the first to broadcast a live professional sports game in virtual reality.
As the 2015-2016 season kicks off, the NBA, Turner Sports and NextVR will live stream opening night when the 2015 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors take on the New Orleans Pelicans.
In addition to the game, participating fans will get a front-row seat to history. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will award the Warriors their 2015 championship rings in a pregame ceremony that will also be part of the broadcast"

Can you imagine ?  Sitting in your couch and in the same time feeling inside the stadium and inside the court between the players?

What do you think? What will be your favorite sport to watch this way? do you have other ideas that can be implicated in the fiels of sports?

write me what you think.

PS - In the next post i will give a short review about every field and then start to elaborate on each

3,2,1 here we go

Virtual reality and medicine

In this new blog I will try to follow the new and intriguing technology called Virtual reality and it’s implication in different fields - Medicine, Sport, Simulators, Porn and anything else that will pop up.

Medicine
There’s a huge potential for VR (virtual reality) implications in the field of medicine.

The medical field even though it’s one term, hides underneath a huge diversity of completely different categories. It starts from psychiatry (which deals with the chemicals in our mind) and ends up in neurosurgery (which deals with cutting through the brain parenchyma) and in between there are many other categories.

So the potential is huge and the amount of money invested in health care is constantly growing, so it will not be surprising that very soon, in the next few years, we will be seeing an explosion of new implications for VR technology  in medicine.

This blog will be more fun more rewarding and more interesting if you all share your thoughts and ideas regarding the subject. Feel free to comment, ask questions and participate.
